Brown Underglaze Pencil

UP005 is the brown in the Chrysanthos underglaze pencil range. It draws on bisque the way a pencil draws on paper, which makes it a good fit for signatures, dates, hatching, shading and fine drawn detail rather than for filling in an area. The drawn line is not fully smudge-proof until it is glazed, so sponge on the first coat of clear glaze to set it, then brush on a couple more coats or dip. Wet the tip for a more solid line. It can also be smudged and blended on purpose. The range fires from cone 06 to cone 10, and most colours hold to cone 10 though they fade a little the higher you fire. On its own it is not food safe, but it becomes food safe once a clear glaze is fired over it. Lead free and conforms to ASTM D 4236.
