TS2 is Kemper's smaller throwing stick. The purpose is reach. Once a form narrows at the shoulder your hand stops being able to get to the inside wall, and a throwing stick carries the pressure in for you - it is how bottles and narrow-necked forms get their shape from the inside rather than being thrown open and closed later.
