RB3 is the 108 mm (4 1/4 in) rib in Kemper's potter's rib range. The profile is a long shallow crescent: flat base, gently domed top, tapering towards both ends. Kemper cuts these ribs from smooth-finished hardwood. A rib does two jobs at once on the wheel: it trues the wall and it compresses the surface, which is what closes up the throwing rings and reduces the chance of an S-crack later.
