R3 is shape 3 in Kemper's six-inch ribbon range. One end is an angled scoop loop set off to one side; the other a pointed teardrop. Kemper's ribbon tools take their name from the thin flat ribbon-like steel that forms the cutting head, which gives a sharp edge with extra strength in the direction of the cut. At 152 mm your hand sits near the cut, which is what you want when you are taking off a little and looking closely.
