25 mm (1 in) wide head · Soft wide head - holds plenty of liquid · Lays a broad even coat with few brush marks · For clear glaze, slip and underglaze washes · Flat wooden handle

A 25 mm (1 in) wide hake brush on a flat wooden handle, for laying broad even coats of glaze, slip or underglaze.

A hake is the brush to reach for when the job is coverage rather than control: a wide, soft head that holds a lot of liquid and lays it down in a broad even sweep, leaving far fewer brush marks than a stiffer brush would. That makes it the standard tool for clear glaze, slip and broad underglaze washes, and for wetting a large area evenly. The head is set in a plain flat wooden handle. Wash it out and dry it flat - a hake keeps its edge if the hairs are not left standing in water. 25 mm (1 in) wide.
