Long profile crosses a platter floor in one pass · For compressing wide flat bases · Shorter of the two platter ribs · Green = firm flexibility (not the medium green) · Polymer, no sharp metal edge · Hanging hole

A long, gently curved rib for compressing the wide flat floor of a plate or a shallow bowl in as few passes as possible. Green is the firm grade.

A platter floor has to be compressed or it will crack across the base later, and compressing it needs a rib long enough to cross the floor in one sweep - stop and restart and you leave a ridge at every join. That is what this shape is for. This is the shorter of the two, for plates and shallow bowls rather than full platters. This is the firm green, a different grade from the medium green used on the kidney ribs - firm enough to compress a wide flat area without flexing away from it. Polymer, so there is no metal edge to bruise the clay. Central hole for hanging.
