Long profile crosses a platter floor in one pass · For compressing wide flat bases · Longer of the two platter ribs · Green = firm flexibility (not the medium green) · Polymer, no sharp metal edge · Hanging hole

A long, gently curved rib for compressing the wide flat floor of a plate or a shallow bowl in as few passes as possible. Green is the firm grade.
A platter floor has to be compressed or it will crack across the base later, and compressing it needs a rib long enough to cross the floor in one sweep - stop and restart and you leave a ridge at every join. That is what this shape is for. This is the longer of the two, for full-size platters and chargers. This is the firm green, a different grade from the medium green used on the kidney ribs - firm enough to compress a wide flat area without flexing away from it. Polymer, so there is no metal edge to bruise the clay. Central hole for hanging.
