A rib curved in two directions at once, so it seats against the inside of a round form instead of touching at one point. Blue is the firm grade.
The bowl rib is curved along its length and across its width at the same time, which is the whole idea: pressed into the inside of a bowl it makes contact along a broad arc rather than at a single point, so one pass leaves a continuous surface instead of a series of flats. A flat kidney rib fights a round interior. This is the small one, for cups and bowls rather than platters. Blue is the firm grade. It pushes back against the clay instead of folding away from it, which is the grade to reach for when truing a surface. Polymer, so there is no metal edge to bruise the clay. Central hole for hanging.
