A rib curved in two directions at once, so it seats against the inside of a round form instead of touching at one point. Yellow is the soft grade.
The bowl rib is curved along its length and across its width at the same time, which is the whole idea: pressed into the inside of a bowl it makes contact along a broad arc rather than at a single point, so one pass leaves a continuous surface instead of a series of flats. A flat kidney rib fights a round interior. This is the small one, for cups and bowls rather than platters. Yellow is the soft grade. It gives under hand pressure, so it smooths without cutting, and it will not hold a line if you lean on it. Polymer, so there is no metal edge to bruise the clay. Central hole for hanging.
