A rib curved in two directions at once, so it seats against the inside of a round form instead of touching at one point. Red is the second-softest grade.
The bowl rib is curved along its length and across its width at the same time, which is the whole idea: pressed into the inside of a bowl it makes contact along a broad arc rather than at a single point, so one pass leaves a continuous surface instead of a series of flats. A flat kidney rib fights a round interior. This is the small one, for cups and bowls rather than platters. Red is the second-softest grade. It follows a curve rather than correcting one, which is what you want for burnishing and slip work and wrong for truing a wall. Polymer, so there is no metal edge to bruise the clay. Central hole for hanging.
