One end is an elongated pointed oval loop; the other a flat-ended trapezoid. 178 mm (7 in) overall, with sharpened, bevelled stainless steel ribbon ends on a hardwood handle, made for medium duty work. Kemper's ribbon tools take their name from the thin flat ribbon-like steel that forms the cutting head, which gives a sharp edge with extra strength in the direction of the cut.
