PC-4 Palladium Potter’s Choice Glaze
This unique metallic glaze has a mirrorlike finish when fired and adds beautiful, shimmering accents to any work. Because it is not food safe, this glaze is perfect for sculptural work that calls for reflective, glassy surfaces. Palladium requires 3 coats to develop the smooth mirror finish. This glaze is fluid so be careful not to overfire. This glaze likes low porosity bodies. It is also great as an accent glaze or for layering with other AMACO glazes.

Apply 3 brush coats. This colour is not food safe. Use it on sculptural work, not on surfaces that touch food. Potter's Choice is a cone 5/6 glaze made to give the look of a reduction firing in an electric kiln. These glazes move as they fire. They break where they run thin over an edge or a carved line and float a second colour to the surface, which is why they show best on textured work. The line is also made for layering over a Celadon, a Satin Matte or another Potter's Choice colour. Two coats over two works for one Potter's Choice over another, and three over three when a Celadon or a Shino is underneath. If the glaze underneath is a fluid one the layered result can run. On its own it takes 3 to 4 brush coats over cone 04 bisque, with each coat left to dry before the next, and a medium-speed firing to cone 5 or 6, 1186 to 1222°C. The clay body changes the result too, so the same glaze will not fire the same over a buff body as it does over a dark one. Fire a test tile with each new batch.
