Spectrum's 1400 series is a cone 4/6 shino glaze. The surface is a satin matte at cone 5 and a little glossier at cone 6. It is made to break, so the colour deepens where the glaze sits thicker and the clay body shows through where it runs thinnest, and the effect is stronger at cone 6. Three brush coats give the full colour. Spectrum rates the series cone 4 to 6, 1190 to 1230°C. Lead-free and non-toxic.
