Spectrum's 1100 series is a cone 4/6 stoneware glaze. The surface is reactive: it is formulated to react in the firing rather than lay down a flat colour, and the result shifts with firing temperature, glaze thickness and the clay body underneath. The same glaze can look quite different on a different body. The colour is developed at three brush coats, fired to cone 5 in an electric kiln on a white body; a reduction firing gives a different result. Fire to cone 5. Spectrum rates the series cone 4 to 6, 1190 to 1230°C. Lead-free, ACMI AP non-toxic, conforms to ASTM D-4236.
